"I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings." 1 Corinthians 8:22-23.
Welcome to Passages Church! In Acts 2:42 and 46 we read, "They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer...they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts."
We see the early church met in the temple courts, their homes and even other places. Everybody wasn't always meeting at the same place, or at the same time, but they were the church.
We learned in 2020 that we can find many ways to join together to worship Christ, spread the Gospel and connect with others. In a way we were forced to find ways to meet as meeting in person was restricted.
I currently attend an online Bible study with 4 other pastors. We study together laugh together and pray for each other. We are friends and are in community with each other. The interesting fact is we had not met live in person for a year and a half! While there is value in meeting together in person, we have discovered there is also value in meeting in groups online. There is no way that pastors from Ohio, Arkansas, Indiana, Illinois and Tennessee could have found community with each other had we not met online.
So many things are accomplished online today. People see their doctors online. People get college degrees online. Businesses have meetings online. People work from home. People even get married by meeting online!
Rick Rusaw of the Spire Network said, "We need to present the changeless message of the Gospel, in a world that will never be the same." He went on to say "We need to put the mission of the church back in the hands of the people." He finally stated "The Church will reach more by scattering than by gathering. Churches will reach more people through their "screen" door (meaning computer screen) than their lobby door." ("The Standard of Church as Platform" The Church Digital: Interview with Rick Rusaw-Youtube).
On each Sunday beginning June 4th, an audio of our worship service which will include music, prayer, sermon and communion will be posted in the afternoon. Later in the week a video of the message will be posted. Click the Media link and you will find links to both audio and video. Other content will be added to these forums. Written content will be provided on the web page as well.
Passages Church is a non-denominational Christian Church whose roots are in the Christian Restoration movement, a movement that encouraged people to accept the Bible as our only rule of faith and practice, to call Bible things by Bible names, to lay aside all man-made doctrines and creeds and to speak where the Scriptures speak and be silent where the Scriptures are silent. In other words, what the Bible says, it says. Culture or political systems cannot change it. There are no Bible updates!
Passages is a Non-Profit Tax-exempt ministry. If you would like to support this ministry financially, you can give online or by sending a check to our address. We will never put pressure on anyone to give. This is a faith ministry trusting the Lord to meet our needs. We do want to ask you to lift this ministry up in prayer and share our ministry with your friends. We want the Lord to be exalted as we reach and teach for His glory! We thank you in advance for your support and thanks for your interest in Passages Church!
In Christ's Service,
Dennis Smith, D.Min, Pastor
